Detroit Future Media workshops are 20-week trainings for Detroiters interested in building Detroit’s media economy through the creation of grassroots media, and community cultural production. The workshops offer intensive trainings on video, graphics, and web design with a focus on education, entrepreneurship and media-based community organizing.
If a police's power is held in their gun, the media's power is held in their stories. What kind of stories are being told about Detroit? What kind of stories can our communities tell when we come together?
Join members of the Detroit Future Program on Tuesday, December 13th for a workshop and strategy session on how to shape Detroit's Future, 140 characters at a time.
If you've never heard of twitter before, or are unsure of the purpose of twitter, this workshop is for you. Working with twitter fundamentals, this workshop will introduce you to a whole community of twitter users that will help you to learn how to tell your own #detroitfuture story!
This training will cover:
Creating your new twitter account!
Help navigating the basic functions of twitter (like: retweeting, friending people, etc)
What are hashtags? And how can they help me?
Twitter on your phone? It's possible, and we can help!
We will also spend lots of time learning how to generate content for your twitter feed!
